KLX Aerospace Solutions Expands Operational Hub-Builds Headquarters In Miami, Florida
10/27/2016
The expansion adds new aviation sector jobs and substantial capital investments to our County. The decision to stay in Miami-Dade and not move to Memphis or Phoenix retains almost 600 existing jobs and creates more than 100 jobs in the first year of growth and up to 400 new jobs in the future.
"The relocation and expansion of KLX Inc.'s Aerospace Solutions Group facilities highlights South Florida as one of the world's fastest-growing logistics, trade and air transport hubs. Our new Miami headquarters will enhance our existing operations and assist with our ongoing recruiting efforts," said John Cuomo, Vice President/General Manager of KLX's Aerospace Solutions Group.
"We will be located near the border of Miami-Dade and Broward Counties, creating easy access to our region's major thoroughfares and some of South Florida's most desirable residential communities. This new facility will enable ASG to achieve its growth in a single headquarters facility. We sincerely appreciate the financial commitments provided by the State of Florida, and Miami-Dade County to facilitate the development of our new operational headquarters,” he added.
"We are pleased to have an aviation industry leader like KLX Aerospace Solutions growing and investing in Miami-Dade County," Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez said. "KLX Aerospace Solutions' decision to expand in Miami-Dade speaks to our talent, our global business attributes and the strength of our aviation industry."
The Miami-Dade Beacon Council has been working with KLX Aerospace Solutions for more than two years on a variety of services including site selection, zoning and permitting assistance, financing programs analyses. It also helped to create a package of state and local incentives, which was approved to retain and grow KLX in Miami-Dade. These are performance-based programs that will only pay the award once the capital investments are made and the new jobs are created.
"KLX Aerospace Solution's confidence in the Miami-Dade market and its major investment of expanding their facilities here is a big win for our local economy," said Miami-Dade Beacon Council President/CEO Larry K. Williams. "We also need to make special mention of the leadership of Mayor Gimenez and his team for going above and beyond to support this retention and expansion plan. KLX's decision to grow their operation in Miami-Dade means a greater number of higher than average paying jobs for those who live here, and more growth for our burgeoning aviation sector."
The Miami-Dade Beacon Council said it will continue to support KLX to facilitate the process as the company works through the required permits and regulations with the City of Hialeah and Miami-Dade County to build this new facility. This new state of the art KLX Headquarters building will be the anchor tenant in Flagler Global Logistics' Countyline Corporate Park, a major commercial development in West Hialeah.
