Solfuels USA Acquires Biodiesal Refinery In Helena, Arkansas

12/20/2016
Solfuels USA, a biodiesel trader, acquired a biodiesal plant and refinery in Helena, Arkansas.

According to the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, facility is a 40 Million Gallons capacity biomass-based diesel refinery situated on a 38.2 acre property, with the ability to handle truck, rail and barges alongside the Mississippi river.

Solfuels USA LLC plans include the retrofit of this facility to use multi-feedstocks and expect the facility to be fully operational beginning in the 2nd quarter of 2017. This venture will add up to 15 jobs in the city of Helena, Arkansas and another 3-5 in Memphis, Tennessee.

Henri J. Bardon who is the CEO of Solfuels USA said: “We believe that an acquisition of a plant in the USA, together with a strong partner like Agritrade Resources, is the perfect combination and timing as the mandates (RVO) recently confirmed by the EPA through 2018 is now creating a much larger market for Biomass-based biodiesel."

“We are convinced that local biodiesel production capacity in the US remains largely underinvested and the location of this plant 60 miles south of Memphis, with its multi-modal logistical capabilities, makes it an ideal location from which to distribute biodiesel,” he added.

Solfuels USA has plenty of space to expand as necessary its operational and/or supply chain capabilities in Helena, Arkansas. Solfuels has been trading and contract manufacturing biodiesel for export to both Europe and the USA for many years and this venture together with Hong Kong-based Agritrade Resources is their first plant acquisition in the USA, state officials said.
