12/21/2010
"We've been told that Mori Seiki wants to act quickly," said Katherine Hess, Davis' community development administrator. "We expect to see planning applications this week or the first week in January."
The project cost is estimated at $34 million, with $6.5 million apportioned for the purchase of the land. City officials say the facility could create up to 150 jobs.
Mori Seiki is an international manufacturer of machine tools. The Davis facility will produce approximately 100 machine parts each month, with some products for the energy conservation industry.
