Samsung Electronics America Relocates Divisions to Plano, Texas

Samsung Electronics America will be relocating their north Lone Star State-based teams from their Richardson and Plano facilities to Legacy Central in Plano, Texas.

Together with development partner Regent Properties, Samsung Electronics America’s North Texas offices will now be located in a newly redeveloped 216,000 square foot building in Phase I of Plano’s Legacy Central campus. Occupancy will begin in the first quarter of 2019.

“We are continuing our strong commitment to North Texas by investing in a new office space at Legacy Central,” said Tim Baxter, President  CEO, Samsung Electronics North America. “This move not only provides us with an opportunity to create an improved workplace experience for our Texas-based employees, but truly showcases our continued investment in our Texas roots.”

According to company officials, long committed to the North Texas community, Samsung’s move to Plano further demonstrates the company’s dedication to Texas and being an invested corporate citizen.

North Texas is home to Samsung Electronics America’s second biggest employee population in the U.S. across multiple divisions – Customer Care, Mobile, Mobile R&D and Engineering.In all; More than 1,000 regional employees from two current locations in Richardson and Plano will be relocated to the new location. Over time, the space will accommodate growth and foster greater innovation for the brand.

It is a pivotal moment to have a company the magnitude of Samsung be the catalyst that helps create a vibrant mixed- use development at Legacy Central. The company’s longstanding and growing commitment to Texas is also complemented by its $17 billion Samsung Austin Semiconductor manufacturing plant, responsible for creating more than 10,000 central Texas jobs and accounts for $3.6 billion in economic activity for the region, officials said.

“Legacy Central is an ideal location for our Texas employees. We believe that bringing our teams together will foster collaboration, connectivity and well-being,” Alejandro Rivero, Director Corporate Real Estate for Samsung Electronics America. “The technology-oriented and amenity-rich campus has been designed to promote productivity and supports the key values we share at Samsung both in the US and globally.”

With over 84-acres and 1,000,000 square feet of office space, Legacy Central campus was recently renovated in order to create a vibrant mixed-use corporate campus. The renovations of a $100 million, feature upgraded facilities such as a 25,000 square foot wellness center complete with lap pool, basketball court, private fitness studios and a rock-climbing wall, a 15,000 square foot conference center with tenant lounge, a 400-seat farm-to-fork food hall.
