08/09/2017
The company will install new machinery and equipment and add at least 50,000 square-feet to its current facility, supporting the creation of up to 30 new jobs and retention of 275 positions in Wayne County. The company plans to break ground on the project in spring of 2018.
Baldwin Richardson Foods develops and manufactures custom ingredients, marketing branded products such as Mrs. Richardson's Toppings and Nance's Mustards and Condiments. It also custom develops sauces, syrups, condiments, flavored beverage syrups and flavor bases offering a standardized line of products for distributors.
The company also plans to make the necessary equipment, technology and construction investments at its Williamson facility to meet changing requirements for food manufacturing and labeling that consumers are demanding.
Eric Johnson President & CEO of Baldwin Richardson Foods said, "Our business continues to grow in Upstate New York and this expansion will allow us to serve the needs of our expanding customer base. Making "better for you" products and ingredients in a modern facility, with a competitive structure and workforce, will insure and protect our future. We welcome the assistance of The State of New York and Wayne County as we secure the economic viability of our region together."
To encourage Baldwin Richardson Foods to proceed with its expansion plan, Empire State Development offered up to $700,000 in Excelsior tax credits in return for job creation commitments. The Town of Williamson also received $450,000 through the Community Development Block Grant to assist Baldwin Richardson. The company also received funding and assistance from Wayne County. The total project cost is close to $35 million.
"New York is proud to support Baldwin Richardson Foods as it creates new, quality jobs for hard-working men and women across the region, while strengthening the local economy," Governor Andrew Cuomo said. "The company's continued investment in Wayne County is further proof that the Finger Lakes is moving forward."
Empire State Development President, CEO and Commissioner Howard Zemsky said, "Baldwin Richardson's plan to expand operations and create new jobs is great news for the Finger Lakes region as it continues its forward momentum. Thanks to Governor Cuomo's tireless efforts to support Upstate, Baldwin Richardson will be able to maintain its competitive edge in the food manufacturing industry."
RuthAnne Visnauskas, Commissioner of New York State Homes and Community Renewal said, "The state's investment in Baldwin Richardson Foods is another example of Governor Cuomo's commitment to regional economic development strategies that are growing the economy and moving the Finger Lakes forward. HCR is proud to be part of this exciting expansion that will make it easier for Baldwin Richard to meet a growing demand for its custom products. The CDBG award of $450,000 to the Town of Williamson will provide the resources the company needs to purchase machinery and equipment and create 30 new jobs for local families."
State Senator Pamela Helming said, "This expansion project is exciting news for the Town of Williamson and Wayne County as well as the entire Finger Lakes region. It will not only add and retain jobs in our community but also help boost an already successful company in the food industry. The food industry in the Finger Lakes region is very vibrant, and this will help it grow further. I commend Baldwin Richardson for making this terrific investment in its facilities and workforce, and I thank all of our local and state partners for helping this expansion come to fruition."
State Assemblyman Robert Oaks said, "I applaud and commend Baldwin Richardson Foods of Wayne County. The size of the 50,000 square foot expansion and the size of the $35 million investment is one more example of Baldwin Richardson's on-going willingness to make major private investment in Wayne County's future. The $1.15 million the company will receive in Excelsior tax credits and a Community Development Block Grant is critical to this project. The 30 jobs to be created and the 275 that are being retained are a part of continual growth for more than two decades by Baldwin Richardson and are welcome news for our local and regional economy."
Wayne County Industrial Development Agency CEO Brian Pincelli said, "Over the past 20 years Baldwin Richardson Foods has grown significantly thanks to their hard work and dedication to customer service. We are proud that they are a Wayne County business and are pleased to support their expansion and future success in our community."
